Despite being downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm, Isaias pummeled New York City with strong winds. The furniture on our balcony was sliding back and forth and at one point we could feel our building slightly shaking from the wind gusts – that was a bit unsettling.
After the rain stopped I went for a ride to get some fresh air. I had to use Julie’s Brompton because the saddle on mine was broken. All along my ride the streets were littered with tree branches, big and small. The were a few damaged cars as well. And it was only the tail of the storm; I can’t imagine how it was at the center of it.
Today in numbers:
21 km – distance cycled
112 km/h – wind gusts today at JFK airport, according to CNN
