It’s been three weeks since we were released from quarantine into “the wild” but it didn’t have much of an impact on our day-to-day life. It got colder here rather quickly and I didn’t bring any warm cycling clothes given it wasn’t supposed to be a long stay, so there weren’t many bike rides for Greengo and I. Last week it started to snow in Montreal bringing to an end this year’s cycling season for me. Although snow melted away, Greengo is now neatly packed in its suitcase.
Owing to the restrictions on indoor gatherings we only saw a handful of family and friends.
At least we could get out of the apartment at will. I walked almost daily for around 10 km up and down Mont Royal instead of running up and down the emergency stairs. It isn’t snowing now but providing we may stay in Montreal through Christmas, I will need to find myself a pair of cross country skis and boots to stay in shape.
All in all, it’s a good thing we changed the scenery after seven months in New York. That being said, we would rather be in France, as originally intended.
These weeks in numbers:
182 km – distance cycled
223 km – distance walked
5 – times the size of Manhattan, Montreal sits on an island
80 – languages spoken in the Montreal region
