06/17/23 – Surprise

In addition to the typical Sunday off, we unexpectedly received another day off – a pleasant surprise. After five straight weeks of training and staging with only one day to rest, physical and mental fatigue had started to take its toll. Our directors sensed that and made the decision to cancel all Saturday trainings. Although it may seem insignificant, this extra day of rest can work wonders for both the body and the mind.
I took advantage of this additional day off by cycling to San Isidro, one of the most affluent neighborhood in Buenos Aires. The weather was perfect – cool and sunny. I chose a route that mostly hugged the coastline, enjoying the benefits of the cycling paths. It turned out to be a delightful ride. In San Isidro, I had lunch at a vegetarian cafe. Five weeks on, I had eaten enough “carne”, so it was a refreshing break from meat. As I cycled there, I worked up my appetite, and on the way back, I burned the calories I had consumed – a win-win situation.
I returned to the hotel at dawn, feeling relaxed and with an extra day to spare.
