The city bears the name of the 1st Duke of Wellington, the victor at the Battle of Waterloo and one of the leading military and political figures of 19th-century Britain.
Despite the bad weather forecast, my day off in Wellington was actually sunny, albeit quite windy. I took a quick look at the sights, went to Te Papa and Wellington museums and enjoyed the sun while strolling along the waterfront.
Wellington left a pleasant impression, and it was nice to be off the saddle. Greengo on the other hand had a much needed maintenance and clean up.
