Summer has finally arrived in Montreal and with it – the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix. This weekend, the air was hot and filled with testosterone oozing from rented Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches whizzing through the city streets. It was also the busiest weekend of the year for sex workers.
Julie and I spent these couple of days walking around Old Montreal, checking out the Mural Festival, cycling to the other side of the island, eating ice cream, watching the Stanley Cup playoffs. And we went to see Alegria, Cirque du Soleil’s classic show in its new iteration.
This weekend in numbers:
38 km – distance cycled
25 – years ago Alegria was first presented to an audience
14 million – spectators saw Alegria around the world
4 – years I worked on Alegria, from 2009 to 2013
305.27 km – distance of Formula One Canadian Grand Prix (over 70 laps)
1 min 13.078 sec – fastest lap this year, by Valtteri Bottas on a Mercedes
1893 – year the first Stanley Cup event was held
