One day in 2023, sitting in La Bici Cafe in Buenos Aires, I browsed a book describing various cycling routes around the world. A chapter talking about a route in Belgium with stops in various breweries caught my eye. However, at just under 90km, it felt too short for the effort of flying to another country. But the idea sparked a fire – a beer-fueled cycling adventure through the Belgium and Netherlands, two countries renowned for their rich brewing traditions. Adding Germany, another brewing powerhouse, crossed my mind but as distance would become less manageable, I dismissed the idea.
