05/12/19 – Steeplechase
Another weekend with relatively good weather came and went. It was a long weekend, which started on Friday but had nothing to do with any holiday: the show stage has arrived and required extra time to set it up. By Monday we should have it ready for training.
Because the weather was decent I, naturally, went for a ride. To make rides more entertaining I change my routes every time I am out and about. On Saturday, I went to Sainte-Catherine – the town, not the street. The ride was quite pleasant, mostly on bike paths, until suddenly the path came to an abrupt end because of construction. I didn’t feel like doing a long detour; instead, I went through the muddy construction site. At the other end I had to climb over the fence: I hoisted Greengo first, then jumped over myself.
On Sunday, I headed in the opposite direction – east. I rode all the way to Bout de L’Île. There was a lot of crude oil storage tanks, refineries and plants along the road. Not exactly a landscape to enjoy. Coming back on the other side of the island was more pleasant, except for the quality of the roads – awful at times.
I came back in time for a Stanley Cup hockey game. All in all it was a nice weekend.
This week in numbers:
226 km – distance cycled
6.4 km – distance of a steeplechase horse race
50 – crude oil storage tanks located in East Montreal
