CDMX, it’s not a drug. It’s the Spanish abbreviation for Mexico City, one of the most populous cities in the world. This is evident during Sunday’s ciclovia, when thousands upon thousands of people come to enjoy traffic-free Paseo de la Reforma.
During the weekend, taking advantage of the pleasant weather and less polluted air due to lighter traffic, we explored the city by foot. First was The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, that has several churches. Then came the Metropolitan Cathedral and Templo Mayor. We finished by visiting the Chapultepec Castle, near our hotel.

To visit the city’s museums, we went on weekdays to avoid the crowds. This decision paid off: we had a quiet stroll through the Museum of Anthropology and were practically alone to view Diego Rivera’s murals at the Secretariat of Public Education.

During the week, I wandered on my Brompton through the nearly deserted 30km of cyclable paths of Chapultepec Park. And on Sunday I, of course, took part of the weekly ciclovia. It is not as extensive as in Bogota but nonetheless, it was a break from riding in Mexico’s heavy traffic during my daily commute to work.

This week in numbers:

46 km – walked
68 km – distance cycled
1585 m2 – of Diego Rivera murals at the Secretariat of Public Education
